Built from real foster care experience

Why SafeCareLogs was created

SafeCareLogs started at home, after seeing how much pressure foster care paperwork can add to an already busy day.

My wife is a foster carer, and like many foster carers, she gives a huge amount of time, care, patience and emotional energy to the children she looks after.

One thing I quickly noticed was how much of fostering happens after the caring itself: the paperwork.

Daily notes. Incident logs. Health updates. School information. Contact records. Behaviour patterns. Appointments. Medication. Important conversations. Small moments that may not seem significant at the time, but could become important weeks or months later.

As anyone involved in fostering knows, record keeping is not just admin. It is part of safeguarding.

Good records help protect the child, the carer, the family and the professionals involved. They create a clear timeline. They help with supervision, reports and reviews. They also give carers confidence that if something is ever questioned, they have accurate information to look back on.

But the reality is that keeping those records can be hard.

Like many foster carers, my wife was already busy with the day-to-day reality of caring. By the time the evening came around, sitting down to write notes, organise information and remember the details of the day could feel like another job on top of everything else.

I started looking for something simple that could help.

I wanted something made specifically for foster carers. Not a generic notes app. Not a complicated care home system. Not something designed mainly for large organisations.

Something simple, secure and practical.

A place where foster carers could quickly log important events, routines, incidents, appointments, positives, concerns and day-to-day care notes, then use those logs later when preparing reports, supervision notes or summaries.

But I could not find anything that felt quite right.

So, having never developed an app before, I decided to try building one.

At first, it was simply to help my wife. The aim was not to create a big business or a complicated system. It was to save time, reduce stress and make daily recording easier.

That idea became SafeCareLogs.

SafeCareLogs has been built around the real-life needs of foster carers: quick logging, organised records, child-specific notes, safeguarding timelines and easier reporting.

The goal is simple: to help foster carers spend less time battling paperwork and more time focusing on the children in their care.

Every fostering household works differently, and no app can replace professional judgement, proper supervision or the human side of fostering. But I do believe the right technology can make the admin side easier, clearer and less stressful.

For me, this project started at home, watching my wife try to balance care, family life and paperwork.

If SafeCareLogs can help other foster carers feel more organised, more protected and less overwhelmed, then it will have been worth building.

SafeCareLogs was built to make daily recording simpler for foster carers. If that sounds useful, you can explore the app and see whether it fits the way your household works.
